This was a nice change from my daily grind, a beautiful dancer on a fire escape - I photographed and designed this piece. You can purchase a framed print at Crafters Gallery in Saratoga Springs.
These were all designed to be 40x70" and are backlit.
Drawing inspiration from “old-school, vintage and bold” logo marks.
An event/fund raiser called Beer & Burgers, gets an awesome branding. This project consisted of a poster, post cards, tickets and web assets
Photography is a love that goes back to childhood.
Curated by Ken Gross, this exhibit delved into the "East Coast Hot Rod Culture". Probably one of my favorite exhibits which was so full of color, chrome and history it was a blast to design. Check out the logo progression...
This BMW M1 on loan from Munich Germany came with it's own "handler" like a fine piece of art. This is the most valuable car on the planet and I was fortunate enough to design an exhibit for this car.
Working with BMW North America along with the BMW Museum in Munich I designed a 14 car exhibition along with a history of BMW motorcycles.
This book was done pretty quick as the client had a tight deadline - They came to me with the project done in Word. I took it from there, at over 120 pages and 1000 photos this was a beast. It was really fun for me as being from Saratoga it gave me a deeper respect for the area I call home.
Being a designer I was drawn to the many, many variations of the Cadillac trademark - I used that as my theme throughout the exhibition featuring logos on all panels.
Brock Yates and friends organized a race from NYC to California in protest against the national speed reduction on our roads, the fastest to Cali wins! This exhibition explored the life of Yates while showcasing some of the original cars from the race. The Cannonball Run already had a logo with the road and setting sun - Taking that and having fun with the rest was easy, first I watch the movie - The palm tree representing the west coast and the Statue of Liberty symbolizing the start, NY...
Check out the Movie Cannonball Run from 1981 which was written by Brock and Directed by Hal Needham - Staring Burt Reynolds, Jackie Chan, Dom DeLuise, Dean Martin, Farrah Fawcett, Sammy Davis Jr., Roger Moore, Peter Fonda and others.
Creating spaces & graphics that people interact with is probably the most rewarding for me as a designer, to see visitors interact with the design, the colors, the messaging!
What better way to commemorate NASCAR's greatest driver - A set of tires for the invitation, reply and autograph card to get Mr. Allison's signature at the event. You can see where my inspiration came from with the photo of Goodyear tires.
The choice of the "unrestored" car on the brochure was hard for the client but for me it was the only choice. In a sea of images that were perfect, shinny and stunning, the unrestored beast was the perfect image to show perspective clients what the business does. Bodywork and restoration...
The business card was put on a rough recycled stock and featured the clients personal car. I would have like to keep the unrestored image for consistency and impact.
Working with the team at DZ Catering we came up with the brand for a Wine Tasting/Fundraiser at the Saratoga Automobile Museum. We were a great team. Using a race map as inspiration, I used wine tasting terms for all of the "named" parts of the track, which was a nice subtle touch for the artwork. The colors are fresh and are full of excitement. The fundraiser helped to support programs and education for defensive driving. Kind of ironic considering the event but hey that's what gets them in the door - awesome food from DZ and fine wine pairings.
The tickets were oversized similarly to that of a pit pass at a race. This job consisted of web assets, post card, poster and tickets.
Horsepower magazine morphed from a newsletter into it's current magazine format. As the creator of this magazine, i'm proud to say it's now in it's 7th year and a fundraising tool for the Saratoga Automobile Museum. I am the editor, publisher and designer, working with writers, photographers, and other organizations to keep this full of interesting stories and killer design.
I have been working with Elco for about 10 years now. I manage and design their website, all collateral, their van wraps, clothing, monthly emails and so much more. I setup and manage photo-shoots of their products and demos out on the water.
We recently finished a redesign of their website. www.elcomotoryachts.com
